Ah… the holidays. That curious time of year when we pretend the world slows down, even as it sharpens its knives and pours another drink.
From the Racingwithbruno family to you—Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. Yes, this is the season for family and friends. And make no mistake: you are part of our family year-round. December simply gives us permission to say it out loud.
Now… I did something a bit reckless. I wrote to Santa.Yes—that Santa. North Pole. No forwarding address. Took a chance.
I asked if he and the elves could cook something up for you. Something special. Something… persuasive. And being the jolly old strategist that he is, Santa came back with a proposition.
You send an email to Racingwithbruno at bruno@racingwithbruno.com with your wish list for a subscription. Fifty credits, for example. Santa, in his infinite wisdom, will make you a deal you can’t refuse.
For example: Tom H wrote yesterday "Bruno are you in the Christmas spirit, can I get a special rate for the holidays on your yearly subscription?" He did he got $400 off the yearly price. Fred B asked for a nice stocking stuffer for 85 credits. We obliged. We can do that for you, but we need a letter to Santa from you.
Because we’re resetting the year in style, humor me, try it.
On the racing front:
California is waking up—Santa Anita opening week, always a gem has been pushed back to December 28, due to some weather being expected. Oaklawn with yes, the only workout video report out of Hot Springs remains where it belongs, right here. From Hallandale Beach, where the real championship meet begins at Gulfstream Park… all the way to Florence, Kentucky—y’all.
Which brings me to Amy Kearns. The Florence, y’all, Queen.
Amy has quietly become a top-tier handicapper. Quietly, because the CIA couldn’t extract more than three words from her under duress. She handles all the Keeneland video works, whether its 7 degrees or 80, and somehow finds the time to constantly annoy me for more information. More works. More insight.
She’s funny. Self-deprecating. Messages me from her palatial estate in Lexington lamenting her “struggles.” I used to fall for it. Then I checked the stats. Five winners here. Six there. Forty-eight percent at Gulfstream right on top.
Ask her what she looks for and she’ll say, “A little of this, a little of that.” Naturally, a Rubik's cub has got nothing on Amy.
She’s also a menace in fantasy sports—basketball, football, you name it. Yesterday, she dismantled me in the quarterfinals of the Racingwithbruno Fantasy Football League. Her own league. With her husband and family. She leaves relatives emotionally devastated… then shrugs like she’s about to be relegated. No mercy is her style.
Amy is a national Racingwithbruno treasure. Ten years running.
Then there’s Laz.
Seven years with Racingwithbruno. A disciple. An apprentice. In 2018 he spent the summer clocking at Saratoga—the hard way. Live. Trackside. No net. He now handles works and racing at Oaklawn and Santa Anita alongside us, while Racingwithbruno covers Kentucky, Oaklawn, and Gulfstream. Three circuits. Because sleep is optional.
This is a family. A real one. Built on trust, obsession, caffeine, and a shared belief that details matter.
So from our family to yours—may your holidays be warm, your racing sharp, and your intuition answered on the first ring.
And don’t forget to send in your Dear Santa letter.
He’s listening. Ho! Ho! Ho!
