Life... The Final Frontier

Life... it's like space, the final frontier. Every day we're navigating through it—professionally, personally, emotionally. There isn't a pause button. Life doesn't take a day off, and neither do the challenges that come with it.
Here at Racingwithbruno, life isn't just about me. It's about family. It's Alessandra, Gioanna, my son-in-law Adam, Mike, Brian, Travis, our incredible crew of cameramen and women, and last—but certainly not least—Amy.
Amy doesn't just handle Keeneland videos. She oversees a myriad of tracks, keeps everything moving, and somehow makes chaos look organized. Every one of us has different responsibilities, but we all share one common mission: publish the best Racingwithbruno products every single day. Sheets, workout reports, videos—it all has to get done.
As we navigate through life, there's always outside noise. Some of it you ignore. Some of it you acknowledge. And if you haven't noticed by now, people can be downright rude, judgmental, and sometimes absolutely insane. Well... that's life. We do live on one giant revolving insane asylum spinning around the sun. Logic doesn't always rule this sphere.
Horse racing is no different.
Every day social media puts the insanity on full display. People love a horse today for the exact same reason they'll hate him tomorrow. Racing logic can be anything but logical.
I don't operate that way.
I run statistics on everything—our selections, our performance, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly. Several years ago, I hired an independent third party who doesn't gamble and doesn't know anyone in our world except me. Their only job is to maintain our records. I need facts, not opinions. Numbers don't care about emotions.

I wasn't happy with our first couple of weeks at Saratoga.
So I changed.
I took a detour, adjusted my routine, and went back to what built Racingwithbruno in the first place.
Our foundation has always been watching horses physically and evaluating how they train. Workouts are our bread and butter. As more workout information became available, our products took on a life of their own.
Today, even on a Wednesday, the Saratoga product is loaded—not just with Saratoga workouts, but Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Turfway, Fair Hill shippers and much more.
Ellis Park has flourished. Our workout reports there have been exceptional, and horseplayers responded by putting over $5 million through the windows on their big Sunday card.
Colonial Downs continues to grow with an expanding workout report.

Del Mar has been outstanding as well, with Laz at the helm.

Meanwhile...Life kept happening.
This past week amazed even me.
Amy and her husband, Tom, were fighting to save their puppy, Michael, hoping he could make it long enough to have life-saving surgery. At the very same time, Amy was working tirelessly to maintain the standards we demand of ourselves at Racingwithbruno.

All of us—including many of you—were pulling for Michael.
And while all of that was unfolding...
The product still had to be produced.
The races still had to be handicapped.
The videos still had to be published.
When I looked at the numbers from the week, I was stunned.
Over more than 450 races, we produced 27% top-choice winners and 47% winners that were either our first or second selection on the sheets.
32 Double Digit winners 1st or 2nd choice!
I just sat there...
"Wow."
As a team that was an accomplishment.
It reminded me of one of my father's favorite operas, Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo.
The clown—the jester—must go on stage and entertain. He has to make everyone laugh while, inside, his world is collapsing. Ruggero must have been a horseplayer -- with a last name like Leon-cavallo..... for sure.
That's life.
Sometimes you're carrying burdens no one else can see, yet your responsibility remains the same.
For us...We still have to find winners.
That's why I smile when people casually throw around the word "tout" like it's some kind of insult.
The real clowns aren't the people doing the work every single day.
The real clowns are the ones who think this job is easy.
They have absolutely no idea what it takes to produce workouts and suggested selections day after day, before scratches, rider changes, weather changes, changing track biases, and the thousand variables that can turn a race upside down in the final ten minutes.
This isn't guesswork.
It's preparation.
It's discipline.
It's accountability.
It's showing up every single day regardless of what life is throwing at you.
Its not plasting a ticket online five minutes from post time and saying 'see how good I am?"
By the grace of the Almighty, our Racingwithbruno family has weathered this week together.
Life will continue to happen.
There will be joy.
There will be heartbreak.
There will always be noise.
But tomorrow morning, when the sun comes up...
We'll all gather again with one question on our minds.
Who's going to win the third?
