THE BELMONT STAKES PRODUCT AIN'T BUILT BY ACCIDENT
I'm proud of our Belmont Stakes product, and these days that's saying something.
You know why?
Because in an industry where half the folks are looking for an angle and the other half are looking over your shoulder, we went out of our way to make sure what we produce stays ours.
Now, I know some people don't want to hear that. They think everybody's just one big happy racing family. That's adorable.
This business has more copycats than a Halloween costume convention.
We've seen our videos show up where they shouldn't. We've seen our ratings influence people who'd never admit it. We've seen enough borrowed ideas to fill a moving truck.
And don't even get me started on some of the biggest companies in the game. It's amazing how much people talk about innovation while standing on somebody else's work.
So we made a decision.
If we're going to do it, we're going to do it right.
Exclusive videos.
Exclusive workouts.
Exclusive ratings.
Exclusive opinions.
You won't find our notes on NYSOS, CRUDE VELOCITY, LITIGATION, and others scattered all over the internet like free samples at the grocery store.
That's the point!
We're not interested in being one more voice in the choir.
We're trying to sing a different song.
I take pride in a product where opinions aren't decided by committee. Nobody sat around a conference table asking twelve people what they thought so we could end up with an opinion bland enough to offend nobody and help nobody.
And we sure as hell didn't need four guys piled into a golf cart chasing horses around a racetrack pretending that's cutting-edge analysis.
We want exclusivity because exclusivity creates value.
Value creates opportunity.
And opportunity cashes tickets.
All week long I felt the Belmont Stakes card was the best card this week.
Not because it was Belmont.
Because we knew what was sitting in our workout reports.
We knew what we had seen.
We nearly pulled off a monster score in the Derby with Danon Bourbon. We thought he was the best horse in the race. Down the stretch it looked like he might prove us right before a knee injury may have not only ended Japan's Derby dream but potentially altered the course of his career.
That's racing.
For one minute we're holding a winning ticket, then next minute you're staring at reality.
But we came right back in the Preakness.
While everybody else was chasing their tails around names like INCREDIBOLT, TAJ MAHAL, and TALKIN, we were standing firmly behind NAPOLEON SOLO.
That one worked out just fine.
Which brings us to the Belmont.
We've got a horse we love.
A horse we've kept close to the vest.
A horse we've protected from the noise, the hype, and the endless parade of experts who suddenly become geniuses after the race is over.
Maybe we're right.
Maybe we're wrong.
But it'll be our opinion.
Our work.
Our conviction.
And in a business full of copycats, that's worth something.
Now let's go find out if it's worth a whole lot more.
